SAFETY SPECIALIST NEEDED

Location: Romeoville, IL (on-site)

We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized Safety Specialist to join our growing transportation team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and wants to play a key role in keeping our fleet compliant with FMCSA and DOT regulations.

As a Safety Specialist, you will support our Safety and Compliance Department by ensuring our drivers, equipment, and documentation meet all regulatory requirements while helping maintain efficient day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities:
Prepare and process trucking permits and registrations.
Maintain truck and driver compliance binders.
Conduct new driver orientation and onboarding.
Process pre-employment applications and required documentation.
Coordinate pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug & alcohol testing.
Assist with IFTA reporting and fuel tax documentation.
Monitor driver qualification files and ensure compliance with FMCSA and DOT regulations.
Track CDL licenses, medical certificates, annual MVRs, and other required compliance documents.
Assist with vehicle registrations, license plates, IRP, and other fleet documentation.
Support safety audits and maintain organized compliance records.
Work with dispatch, maintenance, recruiting, and management to ensure operational compliance.
Assist with safety investigations, violations, inspections, and
corrective action follow-up.
Perform additional administrative and compliance duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in trucking safety, compliance, or transportation administration is preferred.
Knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, IFTA, IRP, and driver qualification requirements is a plus.
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Experience with transportation management or fleet software is an advantage.
